Finding ease

* Relax * Restore * Renew * Rebalance

* Relax * Restore * Renew * Rebalance

The antidote to stress.

We know stress can come through bigger events and change, but also in trying to juggle a myriad of responsibilities. Stress effects every part of us and can show up through impatience, irritation, anger, frustration, muscle tension, headaches, a disruption or change to bowel movements, and indigestion. The more stress, the more the effects of stress compound within us.

Radical Rest draws on scientific understanding to gently guide the nervous system toward a state of deep conscious rest.

Through supportive physical postures and carefully created conditions, the practice helps ease the accumulated effects of stress. As the body settles, relaxation naturally emerges—opening the door to deeper rest.

The antidote to stress is relaxation, and to relax is to rest deeply.

  • Radical Rest is the love child of April (they/them). What started as a rescue remedy for burnout, evolved into a practice of Self-preservation. Radical Rest is a quiet rebellion against constant doing and stimuli.

    April believes that through the practice of deep conscious rest, we are better equipped to show up in the world with radical presence and compassion.

  • Radical Rest draws on nervous system science, offering a thoughtful, evidence-informed lens to the practice of rest. The practice stimulates the systems that calm and restore, while softening the systems that keep us in a constant state of alert

    We acknowledge that each body is different; both in its physicality and in the stories that live within our bodies, and we meet this with care and kindness.

  • We work with all bodies and are committed to learning and finding ways together to support you on your journey to deep conscious rest.

  • "I dropped into a depth of something... not anxious about anything, not in resistance to anything, not distracted by anything, just in it. That's not an easy place to find. I don't understand how what you did allowed me to submerge like that so easily and quickly but it did."

    —Rae, Candelo

  • "It was just delicious. My body emerged from it smiling. "

    —Radical Rest student

  • "I was physically comfortable which is not easy for me. My body doesn't find ease in stillness which is strange because I love it but it's where pain often lives for me. But I had no pain, I had ease in that stillness."

    —Radical Rest student

  • "I came out of the rest feeling very calm and clear and energised in a really helpful way. I stayed in that state for a few days. "

    —Radical Rest student

  • "Rest sessions with you are like a deep medicine that I never even knew I needed"

    —Radical Rest student

Rest for the Radical

Rest for the Radical

Deep conscious rest supports us to alter the personal and collective nervous systems of capitalist culture. Rest is radical because it disrupts a culture focused on doing, and orientates us towards being. It's a practice where we unplug from the constant stimulus of the modern world. It allows us to reclaim space in, and around, our bodies. Rest is resistance. Rest is protest.

We acknowledge the Djiringanj and Thaua people as the traditional custodians of the land in which we rest, learn, and connect. Such beautiful country, ocean and big skies that give us the opportunity to connect body within place. We are grateful to the Djiringanj and Thaua people for their custodianship, and pay our respect to elders.

Always was, always will be Aboriginal Land.
